Junior Block 286-Piece Construction Set with Power Drill

Two hundred and eighty-six pieces and a yellow toy power drill. The parts bolt together rather than clip together, so a model holds its shape when it is picked up — and comes apart again only when the child chooses to take it apart.

The drill is the reason this set gets played with twice. Driving a bolt home with a trigger is a different job from pushing a brick onto a stud, and it is the part children come back for. It runs on batteries, which are not supplied — have a set in the house before this is given as a gift.

The manual shows ten models to build from the same box, from a robot to a wheeled machine, and the tray keeps the pieces sorted between builds. Ten builds from one box is a lot of afternoons.

Marked on the box for ages 6 and up.
