AK-47 Gel Ball Blaster

A gel ball blaster fires soft water beads that burst on impact and dry away to nothing. There is no residue and nothing to pick up afterwards, which is why the format has largely replaced foam darts for outdoor games — the ammunition is cheap, biodegradable and does not need collecting.

This one is finished in a yellow and black splatter camouflage rather than plain black, and comes with a scope and a detachable magazine. It charges over USB from the supplied cable and battery pack.

Soak the gel beads in water before use; they take a couple of hours to swell to full size.

Eye protection is not supplied with this blaster and it is not optional. Buy a pair before the first game. Gel beads leave at speed, and the eye is the one part of the body that does not shrug off a direct hit.

Ages 14 and over.
